The West Coast Convergence for Climate Action

July 28 - Aug. 4 — River’s Turn Farm, Near Eugene, Oregon

Announcements:

- Please do not bring your dog.
- Remember to use the rideshare board.
- Workshops have started, everything is going smoothly…come join us and see the giant silver dome, and the awesome solar set-up.

Upcoming events:

-Thursday, July 31st.
Western Environmental Law Center attorney Dan Galpern will announce a new lawsuit targeting the Bush
administration’s unlawful refusal to regulate certain major sources of global warming pollution. Galpern
currently represents 10 national and state-wide environmental organizations in two cases which, jointly with
California, Oregon and other states, challenge the Bush administration’s refusal to approve a request by those states to enforce laws restricting greenhouse gas emissions from autos and light trucks under the Clean Air Act.

-Friday, August 1st.
Join us for dinner to learn about dirty fossil fuel energy projects proposed in our region, and how to join the movement to stop them. Hear stories from community members through-out Oregon that have been at the forefront of resisting liquefied natural gas (LNG) development.

We can find strength in people power and work together towards building the movement for sustainability we need to confront corporate-driven climate change. Come join in!

The Convergence will be 8 days of Low Impact Living and High Impact Action. Activities will include skill shares, sustainability demonstrations, direct action, community organizing, and loads of entertainment. In addition, we’ll engage in brainstorming and strategy sessions on issues facing our region, such as massive fossil fuel infrastructure development, deforestation, growing food prices, and rising transportation costs.

People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join the global movement for earth-centered and community-based solutions to climate change. The convergence will offer free camping, childcare and activities for toddlers and up, and meals (with a suggested donation of $10/day).

Join or start a mass bike ride to the event, hop on a daily grease-powered shuttle bus from Portland, jump in a shuttle from the S.F. Bay Area, organize a caravan from your community. Just get here!
